Sephora might be getting some competition. The Colorado-based Cos Bar will be opening its first New York City store at Brookfield Place – the new shopping center near the World Trade Center.

But, there is a difference. Cos Bar won’t be featuring an open-sell floor plan – a retail concept that has been so successful for Sephora that it has inspired department stores to follow suit.

Cos Bar began with a single store in Aspen, Colorado, and has since grown to include 13 stores in eight states. The company’s other locations, as well as its website, carry many prestige brands including cosmetics and fragrances by Cartier, Clinique, Nars, Oribe, Prada, Tom Ford and more.

Brookfield Place is scheduled to open this spring with approximately 40+ retailers, a 25k sq. ft. French marketplace, and more than 14 dining options – all overlooking the Hudson River. Cos Bar is the mall’s only beauty retailer.
